Just a quick post. I’m starting work on updating some of the “gallery” photos on the site. As a first bit, I’ve updated the photos for the travel page for NYC. Some of them are new and some are old. I hope to keep this a bit better as it had been several years.

Happy Holidays!
We wanted to wish everyone a very happy holidays, merry Christmas, happy Kwanzaa, (belated) happy Hanukkah, happy Solstice, or whatever you celebrate. We hope your holiday is wonderful and your new year is spectacular.
We also have a 2018 Holiday Letter.
Junkyard Trip
I recently had the opportunity to spend a morning on a Richard Lewis photo workshop at a salvage yard/junkyard in Atco (in the Pine Barrens in south Jersey). While it may not seem like a great place to take photos, it really is as there’s a lot of details and thinks to “see”. It was a very cool place to spend a morning taking photos and spending time with other photographers. It was amazing how they just let us wander, scrambling over and around stuff. If you get a chance to go here, or on any of Rich’s workshops, I’d highly recommend it. Of course, there’s some photos.
(Finally) Some photos of Kyle from 2016
I have finally posted some photos of Kyle from 2016. Most of these are posted in various trips, but there’s a few new ones. Here are a few of them.
A loss and two new additions
As some off you know, we lost our pet rat Katie a bit ago. She had been a bit listless for a week or so. At the same time, we found a couple of growths on Lucy (very common in rats) so off to the vet both went. While Lucy underwent surgery, the vet didn’t find any problems with Katie. However, a few days later we started to see blood. The vet thought it might be an infection but she kept getting worse despite antibiotics, passing only a couple of days later. The vet thinks it was likely uterine cancer and too far to do surgery. Kyle was quite upset and still misses her.
As rats are quite social, we decided it would be best to get new companions for Lucy. As Empty Cages, from whom we had gotten Lucy and Katie, just had a batch of rats arrive, we adopted two sisters from them, Luna (not sure if hooded or “down under”) and Ginger (“Ginny”, a very pretty ever so slightly tinted grey called “beige”). So far, they’re doing well. The only issue we’re having is that Luna and Lucy are not getting along very well. We have Lucy and Ginger in the big cage and Luna in a borrowed hamster cage sitting right next to it. We’re hoping they start getting along soon.

New additions
We have two new additions to the family: Katie and Lucy. Kyle got them for his birthday, though we certainly realize they’re family pets. We adopted them from Empty Cages Collective rescue in NYC. (They delivered them as they wanted to do a home check as well.) They’re sisters and just short of four months old. (They were born 17-Oct.) They’re settling in well and are already quite friendly.
Happy Holidays
We want to wish you all happy holidays and wish you all the best in the new year.
If you’re at all interested, here is our Christmas 2014 Letter.

Allan – 1979-2014
As most of you probably know by now, my brother Allan passed away completely unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. He was a great guy with an incredibly gentle heart. Nearly everyone he had contact with liked him very much. My mom and I spent a couple of days in Mobile dealing with his affairs and everyone we met from people at his apartment complex to people as his work couldn’t speak highly enough of him. As most of you probably also know, he was an avid photographer. As part of his legacy, I put together a collection of his photographs. (I pulled them as the top-rated ones from his Lightroom collection and left the processing setting as he had them set.) Please take a look and remember his kind soul that is no longer with us.
Thank you.
